Changing Your Oil Too Much Can Be a Bad Thing

How often should you change your car's engine oil? That may seem like a no-brainer question because most people were always taught that it should be changed every 3,000 miles. But it turns out that could be the wrong answer today. Over 20 years ago, vehicle engines weren't nearly as durable or efficient, and 3,000 miles usually was the right time for an oil change. But today oil changes are usually better done less frequently.

Unless your vehicle manual specifically says to change the oil every 3,000 miles, don't because if you don't have to, it won't benefit your vehicle any. It can also cause more pollution in the atmosphere, and only the mechanics will benefit from these extra oil changes. Instead, you should call or bring your vehicle to us at Northpoint Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

If you bring your vehicle to us, we'll check and change your oil if needed, and also check and perform other little tasks. It's all part of our friendly service at our service center in Derby, VT!
