IIHS Names The 2019 Jeep Cherokee A Top Safety Pick

Safety is crucial and should be a high standard no matter what you’re doing in your vehicle. That’s the way Jeep feels anyway. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Jeep Cherokee is absolutely crushing it when it comes to safety before and after collisions.

The IIHS has awarded the brand-new 2019 Jeep Cherokee a Top Safety Pick rating. For models built after April of this year, the Cherokee has been recognized as having top scoring safety features available. The 80 possible safety and security options are also slated to be available for the 2020 model. These include, Automatic Emergency Braking technology, Forward Collision Warning-Plus, and LED projector headlamps with optional automatic high-beam functions.

“This latest award is solid recognition for the Jeep Cherokee, an SUV that is not only recognized for being the most capable vehicle in its class, but also packed with more than 80 advanced safety and security features and benchmark 4x4 systems to help consumers tackle any terrain in all weather conditions,” says Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “Jeep Cherokee provides the confidence and security to handle any journey."

These features maintain safety before a collision, but the Cherokee is also built to maintain structural integrity and keep you and your passengers safe after impact. The A-pillar and hinge-pillar in the 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been upgraded with high-strength-steel. These were major contributors in the simulated crash tests—earning the best possible rating from the IIHS.
